HOW WE SERVE

The MLKLCL requires each local chapter to be of service to the territory assigned. Our wholistic approach to service deconstructs ten houses of violence at the root. With your help, MLKLCL will continue to strengthen and expand our network of direct and wrap around solutions to violence at the local level. We are looking for passionate, hands on leaders to organize and execute MLKLCL mission near you.

GUN VIOLENCE

  • Rollout wrap-around services to deconstruct the motivation for crimes of necessity.

  • Implement community-based programs to advocate for responsible gun ownership and safety measures.

  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to enforce stricter regulations on firearm distribution and ownership.

  • Provide education and resources for conflict resolution to reduce instances of gun violence.

POLICE BRUTALITY

  • Creating public safety roundtables with sworn and unsworn safety professionals.

  • Establishing inclusive and equitable safety expectations for each community.

  • Defining community requirements for police training addressing: implicit bias, prejudice, approved equipment, and use of force.

GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

  • Drive healing and alignment within communities surrounding identity, gender relations, blended families, rape culture,  and toxic masculinity and feminity.

  • Promote gender equality through awareness campaigns and educational workshops.

  • Establish safe spaces and support networks for survivors of gender-based violence.

  • Advocate for policies that protect the rights and safety of individuals regardless of gender identity.

ECONOMIC JUSTICE

  • Create economic empowerment programs targeting marginalized communities to address systemic inequalities.

  • Implement a sustainable and wholistic pathway for returning citizens, the deconstructs recidivism and creates opportunity and positive identity.

  • Establish a network of community partnerships that support fair labor practices and living wages to alleviate economic pressures that contribute to violence.

  • Provide financial literacy education and access to resources for economic stability.

EDUCATION REFORM

  • Implement anti-bullying initiatives and conflict resolution training in schools.

  • Address patterns of discrimination against children from all demographics, establishing a public record.

  • Advocate for culturally competent, inclusive, and diverse curriculums that promote a worldwide and ready lens.

  • Provide parent and staff support for students experiencing violence or harassment in educational settings.

  • Offer comprehensive support services for survivors of domestic violence, including shelter, counseling, and legal assistance.

  • Conduct outreach programs to raise awareness about the signs of domestic violence and available resources.

  • Collaborate with law enforcement and judicial systems to ensure swift and effective responses to domestic violence cases.

  • Promote civic engagement and peaceful advocacy as alternatives to political violence.

  • Advocate for electoral reforms and policies that uphold democratic principles and protect citizens' rights.

  • Monitor and report instances of political violence, working with authorities to hold perpetrators accountable.

ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE

  • Advocate for sustainable development practices that protect communities from environmental degradation and disasters.

  • Raise awareness about the link between environmental issues, such as pollution and climate change, and violence.

  • Support grassroots initiatives for environmental conservation and restoration.

  • Foster interfaith dialogue and understanding to promote religious tolerance and harmony.

  • Provide education on the dangers of extremism and radicalization within religious communities.

  • Support religious leaders who condemn violence and promote peacebuilding efforts.

MEDICAL & REPRODUCTIVE VIOLENCE

  • Advocate for equitable access to healthcare services and quality medical treatment for all individuals.

  • Raise awareness about medical malpractice and negligence, and provide legal support for victims.

GLOBAL NEIGHBORS

  • Foster interfaith dialogue and understanding to promote religious tolerance and harmony.

  • Provide education on the dangers of extremism and radicalization within religious communities.

  • Support religious leaders who condemn violence and promote peacebuilding efforts.

VIOLENCE AGAINST THE VULNERABLE

  • Establish specialized support programs for vulnerable populations, including children, elderly individuals, neurodivergent thinkers, and individuals with disabilities.

  • Advocate for the rights and protection of marginalized groups in society.

  • Partner with DEI solutions to create inclusive and competent materials and workplace training.

  • Collaborate with social service agencies and community organizations to provide holistic support for vulnerable individuals experiencing violence.
